It’s easy to focus on what you will miss out on if you go back to work. It may be a scary concept and I understand- I’ve been there! And yes, you may not be around your children as much as you are now. That can be a downside.
In addition, if you return to balanced work in a field you enjoy, you are NOT likely to:
-be the most involved mom at school
-have children who match perfectly at all times
-be involved in the latest scoop about other children, parents or teachers
-micro-mommy and be overly involved in your childrens’ lives
-maintain as tidy and organized of a home
-lose your self in your children
And yet, if you return to balanced work in a field you enjoy, you ARE likely to:
-have something exciting to look forward to every day
-have children who respect you and learn from your independence
-feel more energized
-have something interesting, in addition to your children, to discuss with a spouse/significant other and friends
-still enjoy ample quality time with your kids because you set boundaries on your work and live with a healthy balance
In short, you give up some things you might miss but you also get rid of some energy drains and time-wasters, while receiving a whole lot more!
